Use this article if Outlook, Teams, or other Microsoft apps keep asking for your password, show sign-in errors, or stopped working after you changed your password.
Why this happens
This usually happens when your password was changed while you were away from the office, for example when you signed in to Outlook on the web from home and were prompted to change it. Your work computer still remembers the old password until it reconnects to the company network.
Fix it on your work computer
- Make sure you are at a Western Carriers location and connected to the company network.
- Lock your computer (press Windows key + L), then unlock it using your new password.
- Close Outlook and Teams completely, then reopen them. When prompted, sign in with your new password.
- If the prompts continue, restart your computer and sign in with your new password.
Fix it on your phone
- Open the Outlook or Teams app.
- When prompted, enter your new password. If you are not prompted, go to the app's Settings, select your work account, and sign out and back in.
You received a "password expiry" notice
Change your password before it expires, ideally while you are at work and connected to the company network. This avoids the sign-in problems above.
Still not working?
Open a ticket and include which apps are affected, whether you changed your password recently, and where you were when you changed it.
Never send a password by email or include it in a ticket. If you need a password reset, open a ticket and IT will follow up with you.
